Quartal Global Social Empowerment Fund

The Global Social Empowerment Fund is a sustainable fund with a strong focus on social investments. The fund strictly invests in companies aiming to solve critical human needs, such as access to nutritious food, shelter, education, and digital services.

Investing According to the UN Global Sustainability Goals

The Quartal Global Social Empowerment Fund invests globally in approximately 50 companies creating tangible solutions to social challenges. Examples include banks providing microloans to female entrepreneurs in developing nations, or fast-growing IT companies creating accessible education platforms for children worldwide.

The fund focuses its investments across three core areas:

  1. Basic Needs: Nutritious food and affordable housing.
  2. Inclusion: Access to digital services and education.
  3. Better Conditions: Access to fair financial and healthcare services.

The UN Global Sustainability Goals are an ambitious agenda established to create sustainable development by 2030, including eradicating extreme poverty and reducing global inequality. Of these 17 sustainability goals, 11 concern social issues.

Management and Strategy

The fund is managed by Quartal’s Fundamental Equities team, the same experienced team responsible for the Quartal Climate Fund and many of our Star funds.

Thomas Sørensen, one of the lead managers, highlights the growing importance of this sector: “Developments are moving fast in this area right now. It is as if the pandemic made us realize how important it is to help each other as best we can. If people can save while taking greater social responsibility, I believe many want to do that.”
